The Future of Financial Advice:
Practicing Well-Being and Connection
This 8-week experience builds a different kind of future advisor—one who is intentional, curious, grounded, compassionate, and equanimous. Regardless of what social robots have learned and how well algorithms can predict, if there are human financial advisors in 10 years it will be because they provide something non-human solutions can't yet provide: the guidance and wisdom of a compassionate human with a well-regulated nervous system.
With mental health at a low, and with the reported mismatch between how advisors think they're doing and how clients think advisors are doing, the skills and tools in this course have never been more urgently needed.
Join us for tools and practices that:
-
support well-being
-
forge deeper connections
-
cultivate curiosity, creativity, and better decision-making
-
teach emotion regulation
-
improve focus and attention
-
unstick the mind
-
broaden the imagination
-
manage stress more effectively
-
improve leadership skills
-
build systems-thinking skills
-
tap into what makes humans unique and how to leverage that to connect with clients
We are our habits of being, thinking, and relating. What are your habits and what future self are they creating?
If you want to connect with others easefully and joyfully, this experience is for you.
This 8-week course has 13.5 hours of live instruction and guidance with Mary Martin PhD, the creator and author of Mindfulness for Financial Advisors, and Julie Fortin, CFP®, FBS®, CeFT®, recipient of the Journal of Financial Planning’s 2020 Montgomery-Warschauer Award for the most outstanding contribution to the field.
The course expands on Dr. Martin's Mindfulness for Financial Advisors course and her contributions to futures thinking, and includes Julie's award-winning work on Relational Neuroscience. It’s science based and includes hundreds of sources.

4. Your nervous system and your connection with clients.
5. Being with and working with thoughts.
6. Being with and working with sensations and emotions.
7. Listening, asking questions, and responding to emotions.

The Mini-Retreat

There is a mini-retreat between classes 6 and 7, on a weekend. It's 3.5 hours, total, with 3 hours of silent, guided practice. This time is crucial to deepen your ability to be with your own experience as it arises. It's held after 6 weeks of practice because you will have developed the capacity to be in awareness if you have don't all of the practices up to that point.

The retreat is your opportunity to supercharge your being and connecting skills, and is an invaluable part of this experience.

There is no reading, music, writing, phones, email, or speaking (by you) for the first three hours, and there's plenty of time to ask questions before the day of the retreat.

Many of us would never bother to pay much attention to meditation except that you custom-designed this course for us. Since we do tend to carry a lot of stress around, and knowing how debilitating it can be, not only for us personally but also for our relationships with our clients, I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to learn and practice with you. I learned things that I wouldn’t have ever known otherwise. I am sure you can use me as an example of someone who was a complete mess at the beginning but who now exhibits calmness and pause in how I am living and communicating.

I have started to look at my work in a completely different manner....
The personal and emotional side of money is what matters more to me now....
I was a bit skeptical before joining, but I’m glad I did.
Thank you once again for showing me the path.

Attending Dr. Mary Martin's mindfulness classes for advisors is like discovering a treasure chest of rare jewels: no two are the same, and they have offered me many opportunities for wonder and "aha" moments. The presentation style is a good blend of guided practice, teaching, as well as breakaway sessions to apply "being in the moment", listening, and communication skills. These sessions have transformed my own self-development journey and coaching relationships with clients. I highly recommend them.
